The Perfect Gift by Serenity Woods

(Three Wise Men, Book 1)

Synopsis:

As a single mum who can barely afford to put food on the table, let alone fill her son Ryan’s Christmas stocking with presents, Erin Bloom isn’t particularly looking forward to the festive season. When Ryan has an asthma attack and ends up in hospital, she’s convinced it’s going to be the worst Christmas ever. Sure, Christmas is a time for miracles, but everyone knows wishes don’t really come true.

Consultant pediatrician Brock King lost his wife to cancer two years ago, and he’s convinced the love he felt for her only comes around once in a lifetime. Then, while visiting the children’s ward, he meets single mum Erin, and suddenly his future doesn’t seem so bleak.

Once Ryan recovers, Brock offers to take Erin away for her birthday, no strings attached, to give her the perfect gift every single mum would kill for—a night in an exclusive hotel. Will she take him up on his offer, which might (if she’s very lucky) end up with hot sex with a gorgeous billionaire? Or should she take the moral high ground and say no?

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is the first book of a series of three, each book is about a brother.  This story can be read alone, but there is not a full conclusion at the end of book 1, there is no epilogue, but you could quite happily end there as it doesn't end in a cliff hanger as such, but the characters from each book are interwoven and the author does advise of a conclusion for all three brothers at the end of book 3.

I loved this story, it is a well written romance story based at Christmas time in New Zealand, so it is a summer Christmas, no snow or fireplaces in sight.   I thought the author was descriptive of the surroundings without being a travel guide.

I liked both Brock and Erin, he is just such a wonderful Alpha Billionaire Male and was deserving of finding his new love.  Erin is a single mum with a bad track record of having her heart broken, so she had the issues to work through if she is good enough for the sexy billionaire.

The story flowed really nicely and the chemistry between Brock and Erin is good, there is a little bit of drama, nothing heavy, and some good sexing to spice it up.

Overall a lovely, easy to read romance.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read other books in the series by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it was a lovely Billionaire romance, worth the read.

Her optimism and tenacity give Zach hope for Akilah, while her loving kindness helps heal his battered heart. He wants to believe that she's the one he's been waiting for all his life, but how can a gorgeous woman like her ever love a broken, scarred warrior like him?

My Review:  5 out of 5

I absolutely loved this story, it is a beautifully written romance and the story will take you on a journey as it winds it's way through the drama.

I loved the flawed character of Zach and his quest to find his dog, not your normal romance story hero.  Jeannie was a very sweet young lady working in a tough area.  You could feel the chemistry between the characters even though the majority of it is done via Skype.

There is nothing hot and heavy about this romance, only one true sex scene, but just the right amount for this story, as most of the story revolves around the search and overcoming obstacles, it is a very touching story full of Christmas miracles.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read other books by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it was a beautiful read, full of drama and romance, a wounded hero and a wonderful heroine.
Definitely recommend.

Requiring a suitable wife by Christmas, he has made a list of the most desirable qualities she must possess. The annoying Miss Emily Isherwood appears to have none of them.

My Review:  3.5 out of 5

This is a sweet little short story regency romance.

I liked the story and the characters, it is set at Christmas time, but is not a Christmas story as such.  It is the tale of Bart working through his lists and working out what is perfect for him.

Overall a quick, sweet read, approx. 30 pages.  A good introduction to me for this author.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other books by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for a light Regency romance short story.

As they grow closer, Rachel and Nate find more than pastries heating up in the kitchen. Is mixing business with affairs of the heart a recipe for disaster? Or will all of Rachel's wishes come true?

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is Book 1 in a series, but is a stand alone book, so you don't need to read the others to enjoy this story.

I did like this story, it has a lovely home town feel, with lots of background details on the town and it's people, it sets the scene for the other books in the series.

This romance is about Nate and Rachel, they have great chemistry together and I liked them both.  They are nicely written.  Nate is a lovely cowboy looking for his true love. Rachel is the downtrodden one with issues to overcome.

It is a nice light romance story, full of Christmas goodness.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read other books by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

One Christmas with the Earl by Bethany M. Sefchick

(The Seldon Park Christmas Novella)

Synopsis:

It's the Christmas season and Lady Amelia St. Vincent, spinster sister of the Devil Duke of Enwright, finds herself in something of a quandary. While attending Lord Raynecourt's annual holiday house party she has been relentlessly pursued by a veritable army of men after her hand in marriage. Not to mention her obscenely sizeable dowry. She is at her wit's end when the dashing Lord Fitzherbert Frost, the current Earl of Houghton, appears as if by magic and comes to her rescue, saving her from yet another fortune hunter.

Now paired with Lord Frost during a rather absurd treasure hunt through the manor house, Amelia must decide if she is willing to trade one night in the earl's bed for a lifetime of ruination. Or whether the magical power of love can melt even the frostiest of hearts before it is too late.

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is a nice little Novella Regency romance.  It is a lovely story taking place during the Christmas Celebrations at a Country House Party.

It can be read as a stand alone, although it is listed as part of the Seldon Park Series, you don't need to have read that first before reading this story.

I loved the main characters of Mellie and Fitz, they both were trying to escape the match makers and the fortune hunters and find each other instead.  They decide to explore the unusual feelings they bring out in each other.

It is a sweet romance with some steamy scenes.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other books by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for a steamy Regency romp it is a great little read.

Much to the chagrin of her parents, she leaves the trappings of wealth to follow her heart to the small town of Paxtonville in Colorado to be near her brother and his large family.

As for the hero of Christmas Kisses, he is new to the series and carrying baggage from a previous sorrow that almost destroyed him. However, I have a feeling Cecelia may be the perfect answer for Connor MacKenzie.

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is the first book I have read by this author, it is Book 5 in the series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone.

I enjoyed this story, it is full of drama and angst with some romance to tie it all together.

It is set at Christmas time in a small town in Colorado and with all small town stories, there are lots of other family and town folk entwined in the storyline

The main characters of Connor and Cecelia are well written, I liked Cecelia straight up, but Connor certainly had some issues to work through.

Overall it is the story of new beginnings and second chances.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other books in the series by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is the first book I have read for this author, and even though this is Book 8 of the series, you can certainly read it as a stand alone, and you don't need to have read the others first.

I did enjoy this book, it is a nice reunited first love story.  It is set at Christmas time but it is not a Christmas story as such.

The story is told with both Jake and Tessa's point of view, so we get a good insight into each character.  The chemistry and sexual tension between them is still sizzling but there is drama and angst and they both have issues that need to be worked through.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other books in the series by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for a reunited first love romantic drama, this is a good choice.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is the 3rd book in the series, but the first book I have read by this author, it is a stand alone book, you don't have to have read the other books in the series.

I did enjoy this story, I liked the characters, both Marcos and Gabriela have some issues and traits that I liked and others that annoyed, they do have a great sexual chemistry but it is a mixed up situation they enter into and she definitely gives a good as she gets.

The author has a nice writing style, it is a winding road to romance with some humour, drama and misunderstandings along the way.

Overall it was a good read, a nice light story set at Christmas.

This is the story of Carrie and Matt, who meet in a support group for those who have lost a loved one through tragedy.  Both are struggling to move forward, but they can't deny their chemistry, so decide to embark on a no strings attached sexual relationship.

He digs in and discovers two things: one, his villain’s weapon will fit inside a snowman's body, and two, this particular snowman was supposed to be the backdrop for Lexi’s next show.

From this improbable beginning comes friendship, but can there be a happy ending for a woman who is afraid to get close again and a man who has shadows from his childhood?

Families join together and hearts are healed as this couple goes walking in a winter wonderland.

My Review:  3 out of 5

This is a nice little Novella about finding love, family and Christmas spirit.

It is a very light romance  and I was enjoying the banter and insults between Kyle and Lexi, it has a few nice family moments and some funny dialogue.

What spoilt it for me was I found the story to have a very unrealistic ending for this day and age  Without giving away the plot altogether I would say that if you were reading this, in say a regency romance, then I could see the ending fitting, but set in the modern day, it comes across totally unrealistic and there are better ways to wind up the book.

There is no sexy scenes of any description, it is more of a G Rated romance.  A sweet, clean, Christmas Story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

I like my stories with a bit more bite, but I would read the synopsis and see if I liked the story.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for a squeaky clean Christmas romance, then you would enjoy this quick read.
