Twenty-six-year-old Abraham O'Donnell is the CFO of Steel Inc. After working tirelessly for over a year, he takes a week off to enjoy the sand, surf, and bikini-clad women of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After all, he's earned it. When a brief interlude with a flight attendant in her hotel room goes awry, Abe heads to a rental home with a private beach. While floating naked in the pool, he learns a guest house on the property is also occupied. So much for rest and relaxation. Ever the gentleman, Abe tries to make the most of his misfortune and offers to make the beauties staying on the property some dinner.

It's senior year and Nikolette (Nikki) Bassett is a few days late for her last college Spring Break with her four best girlfriends. When she arrives, all these ladies can talk about is the guy next door. And once Nikki gets a look at him, she knows what they mean. Fresh from an afternoon of surfing, Nikki
can hardly believe her eyes when Abe approaches. The sexual tension and banter between the two of them leads to steamy hot sex on the Atlantic shore. It's only a Spring Break fling, and both Abe and Nikki know better than to make it out to be more than that. Or do they?

Abe's calm demeanor changes once he has a taste of Nikki. That night, no location is safe. He takes her on the beach and ravages her in his bed. But despite their mind-blowing sex, Abe's taste for ultimate control in the bedroom makes Nikki uneasy. Nikki's just getting over a heartbreak and she can't afford to let Abe in. So, she pushes aside her budding feelings and leaves Florida and Abe behind without a backwards glance.

Not used to being dumped and afraid to admit how much it hurts, Abe cuts his losses and heads back to Steel Inc., resume his role at the top of Steel Inc., pouring his heart and soul into his work. But Nikki Moore won't be forgotten so easily. Her taste, scent, voice, the noises she made when he brought her to ecstasy, the way she tasted on his tongue, and felt under his touch haunts him. Always fighting for control, Abe tries to push Nikki far into the back of his mind, as he fucks the rented women he had grown accustom to.

But Karma is a bitch, and Abe blames her for Nikki leaving him the way she did. So when Nikki shows up unexpectedly, Abe welcomes Karma with open arms.

Control has left the building and safety of one's heart is no longer strong enough to stop what happens next.

My Review:  3.5 out of 5

This book is the first in the spin off series from the Men of Steel series, but it is the first book I have read from this author.
I did enjoy the story between Abe and Nikki, it has some hot sexy scenes and the chemistry between them is great.  There is a some drama and arguing as they work through their issues and Nikki tries to understand the intensity of relinquishing control to Abe in his Dom mode.  But there is also some sweet tender moments and some steamy scenes all wrapped in together.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I did enjoy the story and I liked the glimpses of the characters from the Men of Steel series that I would look at reading their stories.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a good story and worth a read.

My Review: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed this book, it has a good romance between Daniela and Russ wrapped up in some drama from her abusive ex-husband to keep the pace going along, add into that the fact that Russell is a shape-shifter and it gives for an interesting read.

It is a fast read, easy to do in one sitting and it is a light sweet paranormal romance.  The story flows along nicely and sets the scene for other books in the series.  This book is a standalone read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, it was a lovely story and I have another story by this author ready to read.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Tougher Than The Rest by KoalaLou - Twilight Fanfiction

Tougher Than The Rest by KoalaLou

Synopsis:

I didn't expect my weekend to consist of anything more than a family wedding…then I met Bella and my world was blown apart. Could I accept her reality, once I'd finally learned what that even was?

My Review:  3.5 out of 5

This is a good read, it is essentially a romance story about Edward falling for Bella and his struggle to fit in with her life.  After meeting at a wedding and having a hot one night stand he wakes up alone, but he can't get her out of his mind.  When he meets her again unexpectedly, they can't deny their chemistry but she disappears again after another hot night together.  This time he knows how to find her, but when he finds out about her real life, he struggles with the huge decision he has to make if he wants to be a part of her life.

The story has some good hot sexy scenes, some angst and drama as well as a lovely sweet romance.  So a little bit of everything.   I did find it a bit slow going through the middle chapters but I did enjoy the overall story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, it was a good story and I would read others by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, I enjoyed the read, the story has a hot romance, drama and angst so ticks a lot of boxes.

My Review: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this story and the characters the author has written.  It is a slow building, sweet romance and although it does take a while for anything physical to actually happen, it is full of sexual longing and desire all waiting for that catalyst moment to explode.

It has a nice supporting cast led by MoMo, and some good "Friends" quotes interspersed in the chapters.   Overall a lovely read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I  loved the writing style of this story and would read others by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a lovely sweet romantic read.  Well worth it.

Guarding the Billionaire (Part 1) by Jenny Devall - EBook

26 October 2015

Guarding the Billionaire (Part 1) by Jenny Devall

Synopsis:

I’m not your typical woman, and I don’t have a typical job. I’m athletic, witty, intelligent, and I carry a gun; I’m a bodyguard.

I love receiving new assignments…usually. However, when I found out I’d be protecting the billionaire scientist, Charles Gaithers, I actually cringed. With his gorgeous gray eyes and sexy black hair, he may not remember me, but I remember him…and the time he called me “Fatty Costello” in high school.

The years have passed, and I’m no longer an overweight teen, yet one thing remains the same…what Charles Gaithers wants, Charles Gaithers gets. The crazy thing is that the thing he seems to want right now—is me! A night or two getting to know each other—in the physical sense—can’t hurt, can it?

My plan is simple. 1.) I’m going to protect Charles Gaithers from whoever is trying to kill him 2.) I’m going to protect my heart from breaking into a million pieces when this assignment is complete and our fun is over.

I only hope I can follow my plan.

My Review: 3 out of 5

This is the first book in a series of three.  It is a very quick read, only 110 pages and does end in a cliffhanger. So be prepared to not have any answers in this first book.

I did enjoy the storyline as a whole, there was a few parts that I found inconsistent with what I would have expected.    Heather was an overweight teenager tormented by the man she must now guard.  Charles doesn't have any memory of her and now only looks to get her into his bed as soon as possible.

What I didn't like was the fact that she hated him and what he did to her, yet in the next breathe she is all about how he is a good guy and can't wait to sleep with him.  The story seemed very rushed to get into the sex scenes and didn't really give any depth to the plot or even relate to the old resentment that the author tried to impart in the first chapter about Heather.  I felt that there could have been some more resistance or reluctance on her behalf.

I like the idea of the all female bodyguards and the possibility of further spin off characters each with their own story but would prefer if each story was just its own book rather than splitting the stories up into parts such as this book.

All that being said I did still enjoy the book itself.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the book and would look to read the next instalment.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, the storyline has promise, but would make the reader aware you need to read all 3 for resolution.

Finding Home by Roxanne Snopek - EBook

25 October 2015

Finding Home by Roxanne Snopek

(This Old House Series, Book 1)

Synopsis:

Logan Stafford never forgot the lonely girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Fourteen years and much heartache later, Samara Davis is back, as irresistible as ever, now with a delightfully odd daughter named Jade and her autism service dog, Bob. Too bad Sam's restored heritage house is nowhere near ready - and he's the contractor responsible.

This single mother has one priority and she'll do anything, make any sacrifice, to give her mildly autistic child a happy home and a secure future. Getting distracted by a long-lost boyfriend is not on the agenda. Nor is being homeless.

Logan's determined to prove to Sam that he's a guy they can all count on but when a crisis with Jade shows him how badly Sam's been wounded by her past, he knows it'll be harder than he thought.

He's all in. But will it be enough?

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is a lovely small town romance story entwining sexual tension, drama and a touch of angst.

Sam herself has some issues, and although they do focus a bit on the behaviour of her child Jade, the author never actually puts a label, as such, on what is wrong with her or if indeed she has anything wrong at all.

Logan is a full on knight in shining armour hero, he sweeps into their lives and handles everything they throw at him with unabated support and love.

This book is written as a first love reunited story, it is a light, quick read, there is no serious sex scenes and although there is some angst and drama, it is not a parenting book, nor is a book about a special needs child.  These are all just factors that make up part of the hard-enough-life background of the character and why she has returned to the one place she felt loved.

All that being said I really enjoyed reading this book, it was quick to read, the writing kept me invested in the characters and the chemistry between Sam and Logan is great.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the book and would look at other books by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a lovely small town first love reunited romance with some angst for those that like it.

My Review:  4 out of 5

I enjoyed the storyline about what starts as a marriage of convenience and how the chemistry between Kate and Noah gives them both the courage to stand up to others.  This is a nice romance with some steamy sexy scenes.  The characters and back story are well written and the story wraps you up and makes you invested in their story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I really enjoyed the book and would read the next book in the story.

Life and Death - Twilight Reimagined by Stephanie Meyer

22 October 2015

Life and Death - Twilight Reimagined by Stephanie Meyer

(Twilight Special Tenth Anniversary Edition)

Synopsis:

Celebrate the tenth anniversary of Twilight with this special double-feature book! This new edition pairs the classic love story with Stephenie Meyer's bold and surprising reimagining of the complete novel with the characters' genders reversed. In Life and Death, readers will be thrilled to experience this iconic tale told through the eyes of a human teenage boy in love with a female vampire. Packaged as an oversize, jacketed hardcover "flip book," this edition features nearly 400 pages of new content as well as exquisite new cover art. Fans of Bella and Edward will not want to miss the opportunity to see these iconic characters portrayed in intriguing new roles.

My Review: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed the reimagined version.  I know that the gender swap has been done a lot in fanfiction, but I liked the way this book flowed with the changes, although there is not a lot of differences between the two versions, I found that the small necessary changes really let the story unfold into a good read.

The character of Beau, was well portrayed, still showing the clumsiness and insecurities of a 17 year old bookworm but definitely a strong willed male experiencing love for the first time.  While the character of Edythe, I found very suited to the tortured Vampire role.

Overall, I found that I enjoyed this version of the story just as much as I liked Twilight when I read it for the first time all those years ago.  To the point that, I think, I would have even preferred the characters of Beau and Edythe over Edward and Bella. That being said I would have left the roles of Carlisle, Esme, Rose and Emmett the same as I don't feel anything was gained by the role swaps, but I did enjoy the changed roles of Alice and Jasper with Archie and Jess.

Also, without giving away the ending, if you haven't read it yet, I will just say that I really liked the way it was finished.

Definitely read the Author foreword and closing statement, as it will answer the "why has Stephanie Meyer written this?" question and also the ever present question of "why not finish Midnight Sun?".

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I loved both the original Twilight Books as well as this story, so would always look for others.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is definitely worth the read.

My Review:  4.5 out of 5

This is the first book in a series of stand alone books for the Masters of the Shadowlands and the first book I have read by this author.

I really enjoyed this story, it had a good mix of romance and BDSM.  I loved the chemistry and the romance between Jessica and Master Z.

It is really well written and the story just flows along and keeps you reading.  It has some very hot sexing and gives the readers some light BDSM scenes.  Nothing I thought was too heavy though, well suited to a first time sub and a good introduction to the Shadowlands club.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I loved the story and would definitely look to read other stories by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is lovely story and a great read.

Scavenger Alien by Clara A. Tobin - EBook

Joanie finds herself spirited away by Lio shortly after her curiosity gets the better of her, and now, up in the stars walking beside the Andromedan warrior, she is forced to make a series of critical choices...

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This was my first foray into the alien romance genre or as the blurb says An Alien Invasion and Abduction Fantasy Novel.

I enjoyed the story and it had some hot sexy scenes in it, but I will say I would have expected there to be more differences between the species or at least some behavioural differences between the alien the male character Lio and a human male.

There is good chemistry and a nice romance between Joanie and Lio, entwined with some drama and danger which make good all around reading.

It is a fairly short book, as about half of the pages listed are actually another 3 bonus short stories.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I did like the writing style, so I would read other stories.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is an interesting storyline.

One. Final. BLOW.

My Review: 3 out of 5

This is the third book in the series, and the first book I have read by this author.
This book had some things that I liked and some things that I didn't.
I enjoyed the storyline of the best friends finally realising that they are right for each other, but I didn't like the female lead character Tamilyn that much, which made it hard to get interested in her stories outcome.

The basic synopsis of the story is that she admits that she loves the best friend and he says he loves her too, but she still continues to date his cousin as she thinks he is a nice guy and wants to see where it leads too..   I don't understand why Ruston would put up with that.  Maybe I needed to hear more from his point of view to understand why he was willing to do so.

The background in the gym which ties the book series together was fleeting and I felt was more of an introduction for the next book which features the cousin she rejects, as his story involves the gym.

Overall it was an OK read but I would have enjoyed the story more or liked the character more if Tamilyn maybe didn't admit she loved Ruston so early on, but continued to date both until she worked out her feelings.  Once she did admit she loved one over the other then make that choice.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I did like the writing style, so I would look at the earlier books in the series.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is still a good story, just not for everyone.

Tricks AND Treats Contest - Twilight Fanfiction

11 October 2015

Tricks AND Treats Contest

Do you go batty over Halloween? Well, so does your ghostess with the mostest! Whether you cast a spell using a chamber of horrors or bring a little gruesome twosome, or threesome, we want your bewitching words! Just remember, pumpkins come, and pumpkins go, but a jack-o-lantern will steal the show! (Every entry must contain a pumpkin reference of some sort!)

My Reviews of the Stories:

Bake Me a Cupcake - Business owner and cupcake chef, Bella Swan, is used to being judged by her dyed hair and piercings. Then a boy who seems to be her polar opposite finds his way beneath her defences. Over melted toffee and pumpkin cupcakes, she finds herself falling hard. But what if
I loved this story, it is a great read and a sweet romance.  5 out of 5

Trickery - Halloween is the time of year when the creatures of the night are at their strongest to wreak havoc and have a little fun … and this year, they have their sight set on Bella Swan.
This is a scary Halloween mystery.  3 out of 5

Battle as Old as Time - Bella is the typical bad behaving teenager, or so she thinks, until it's revealed to her that not only is she adopted, she is also a witch, and apparently her destiny now awaits.
This is a good supernatural romance.  Will she choose good or evil.  3.5 out of 5

Fifth and Grand - "Important encounters are planned by the souls long before the bodies see each other." - Paulo Coelho
I enjoyed this romance with the twist at the end.  3.5 out of 5

Lost Souls - The pumpkin is used to create the jack-o'-lantern, a symbol of lost souls, or so the legend goes. But what you have first is simply a pumpkin. It is the nicks and scars that fashion the jack-o'-lantern, bring it to life, so to speak, much like they do our souls
This is a lovely story, a nice romance layered with angst.  4.5 out of 5

Things That Go Bump in the Night - Edward and Bella were too afraid to show their true feelings in high school. Could the Forks tradition of a Haunted Hayride finally bring them together?
A sweet story of two shy people in love with each other from afar.  3 out of 5

Panorama - A simple job assignment turns into much more for Angela Weber when she gets a chance to peek into the life and the love shared by Bella and Edward Cullen. Can Bella help her put the disjointed pieces of her life back together?
This is a nice story about reunions and working through new relationships. 3 out of 5

Moonlight Castle - Most legends are born when the storyteller needs to captivate their audience, make their story come to life. But for Bella Swan, a real life legend is about to become all too real.
This is a good story, very descriptive and a good backstory.  3.5 out of 5

Will 'O The Wisp -Some legends say he's a man with the head of a pumpkin, leading people to their demise in the bog. Others say they're spook-lights, cast by spirits of the dead trapped on earth. But I say they're the lights of another world, the NeitherLands. Neither here nor there.
A good supernatural story full of  angst and mysterious beings. 4 out of 5

Trust in The Moon Goddess - Head Wizard Edward Cullen has waited ten All Hallows' Eves for his one True Mate. Will this be his year?
This is a lovely sweet supernatural romance.  I loved the concept.  5 out of 5

A cute little high school romance story. 3 out of 5

Jack's Little Lambs - This isn't Kansas and this isn't Oz. This isn't the Enchanted Forest where magic pumpkins lead us to our princes and our happily ever after's. This forest is the opposite, dark and haunting in its deadness; a nightmare. We don't know how we got here. All we know is that we are the hunted. BPOV. M for language and one lemon.
Wow.  This was a creepy, in a good way, Halloween story. It makes you want to know what happened and what happens next. 5 out of 5

Ritual -  Tensions between Bella and Edward peak after Bella's disastrous birthday party. Why does he continue to resist making her immortal? On All Saints' Eve, every pretense will bleed away. Violence, coarse language and lemons. New Moon AU.
This is a different telling of becoming immortal, Vampires and their mates.  3 out of 5

Sleepy Hollow - In the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Ichabod Crane, after losing the hand of his love, Katrina, was taken by the Headless Horseman, never to be seen again. What if the legend wasn't quite true?
This is an interesting take on the Sleepy Hollow story intertwined with Twilight.  4.5 out of 5

My Review: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this story, it is full of action and drama, sexual tension and hot sexy scenes.  The characters are well written and the chemistry between Jake and Rachel is great.  There are plenty of back players waiting for their own stories to be told in the following books in the series.

Yes, I would definitely read other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is a short Historical Romance Novella.  It is a good, fast read with some hot sexy scenes.

Amelia had fallen in love with her husband, but after spending their first night together, she overhears him telling his cousin that he married her only for her money.  She has spent the last 6 months living with her sister, when she receives his summons to prepare the family home for Christmas.

When she arrives, she finds her husband Stephen, Earl of Blackgrove, waiting for her and all her suppressed emotions come flying back in full force.

This novella is the story of his attempts to "woo" her and show her that he has fallen in love with her too.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it was a good, short, fast, sexy read.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This book is all about what starts out as a Temporary Marriage between two professionals, to seal a business deal.  When they both start to fall in love with each other, there is some misunderstandings and drama ensues.  The storyline itself was good and I enjoyed the book.

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is the first of five books in the series.  They are each only very short Novellas and you need to read all to get any resolutions, so be prepared that you will need to read the full series.

This book is just the introduction to the characters and a their backgrounds up to the point that they meet and Jax hires Kendra to be his nephew's nanny.  That being said, I did enjoy the writing and the storyline itself, so I would look to read the next in the series, but would have preferred it to be all one story rather than 5 x 60 page novellas.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the storyline and would read the next in the series.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is well written and worth a read.

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is the first book in a series, with each book a stand alone story for two new leads but all books with intertwining characters.
I really enjoyed this story and the writing style.  This is a very sweet romance story and is full of sexual tension and drama but no sex scenes and no real heavy angst.
The characters were well rounded, realistic and with good back stories and the idea of the "Bridesmaids Club" itself is a good concept to base the book series around.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is really good, sweet romance.  Well worth reading.
