Never a Choice by Dee Palmer - EBook

Never a Choice by Dee Palmer

(The Choices Trilogy, Book 1)

Synopsis:

Bethany Thorne has secrets and she’s told a few lies but she’s hurt no-one. She just wants a better life, she works hard for a better life, a life with choices but a chance encounter at her new University with disturbing stranger Daniel Stone makes her heart beat, her body tremble and rocks her very foundation. Reeling from the intensity of her unfathomable reactions to this man her world is sent further spiralling out of her control when on this first meeting he casually whispers that he knows she’s a liar. Bethany begins to feel her hard earned choices start to disintegrate before her.

Her innate and newly discovered submissive nature is highlighted further by her extreme reaction to each encounter with Daniel Stone. Dark and dominant he evokes an instant heat and desire she has never felt before, but he is dangerous, he is powerful and he seems to see right through her. Choosing to try and stay under his radar proves to be the first choice to slip through her fingers.

My Review: 4 out of 5

Bethany is attending college pretending to be a mature aged student, when she attends guest Lecturer Daniel's classroom, he singles her out immediately.  He wants nothing more than her submission in all things, while she is just trying to survive working 2 jobs and attending college.

I did enjoy most of the story, it was full of drama and sexy scenes with just a touch of BDSM.  At first the story seemed to be heading along the normal lines, poor girl falls for rich guy, they work out the issues and live happily together, but then when Bethany’s evil sister, Kit, arrives on the scene everything implodes.
I was enjoying the drama that this twist in the plot brought along, and I wondered how on earth things were going to work out, then it felt like the author decided it had to be all wrapped up neatly in one final chapter, so the book didn’t end in a cliff hanger.  So I was a bit disappointed in the ending, although it is a Trilogy, you could end the series here.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read another book by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a very well written romantic drama with a touch of erotica.  Well worth the read.

Star Crossed by tufano79 - Twilight Fanfiction

29 November 2015

Star Crossed by tufano79

Synopsis:

She was the leader of her people. He was a gruff, by-the-book star ship captain. An interstellar war, negotiations for a peace treaty gone wrong and a taboo relationship between two species. Will they survive this threat or are the Star Crossed lovers doomed before they even have a chance?

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is ultimately the love story of Edward and Bella, set amongst the upheaval of an intergalactic war.  He is a Federation Starship Captain and she is the Empress and ruler of her planets.
When they meet, it will set off the mating imprint, and they have only 1 week to join as mates or die.
At the same time, with war being waged against her planets, and every effort is being sabotages from within, it is a desperate race to find out who the traitors are in their ranks, and find a way to beat their enemy.
I did enjoy this, it is a well written, descriptive fantasy romance.  It has some good hot sex scenes, lots of drama and intrigue.  I liked the cross over between Twilight and Star Trek, with lots of the main characters from the different Star Trek series being entwined in the plot.
Overall a good read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I really enjoy stories by this author and always looking for others.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a lovely romance filled to the brim with drama and intrigue, definitely worth a read.

Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher - EBook

26 November 2015

Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Synopsis:

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

My Review:  3 out of 5

This is definitely a suspense story, not really a romance story at this point.  This first novella in a series of 3, it is the story of High School students Charlie and Silas, they “wake up” in the middle of class with absolutely no memory of who or where they are.
Initially neither is aware of the other, when they discover they both are having the same issue, they start to follow a series of clues trying to work out what is going on, with every clues comes more questions, can they work out what is going on.
It was an interesting read, but with lots of unanswered questions, definitely a cliff hanger.  Be prepared, this first book is just setting up the scene.  Non of your questions will be answered, but it will certainly leave you ready to read Part 2.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read part 2 if only to see the story unfold.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you like a mystery and are prepared that you will get no answers in this Novella and that you would need to read the full series to get a resolution.  That being said, there is not yet a release date listed for part 3.

The Cowboy Inherits a Bride by Cora Seton - EBook

25 November 2015

The Cowboy Inherits a Bride by Cora Seton

(A Cowboy of Chance Creek Book)

Synopsis:

When Sunshine Patterson loses her Chicago home, job and boyfriend in one day, she needs a backup plan, fast. Luckily her Aunt Cecily has provided her with the perfect combination living and restaurant space to start ovMy er. Even though the building is located in small town Chance Creek, Montana, Sunshine is certain it’s only a matter of time before she’s back to take the big city by storm. When she arrives in Chance Creek, however, she gets a surprise. Her restaurant space—and apartment—are occupied by a rival to her inheritance: the incredibly sexy, incredibly wrong for her, Cole Linden.

Cole’s been struggling to save his family’s holdings for far too long. The indoor rifle range he inherited from his father barely pays its rent, but it’s all that’s keeping his other concerns—two apartment houses—afloat. If he was smart, he’d walk away from all of it and start over, but if he does, several dozen of Chance Creek’s inhabitants will find themselves without a home. He thought Cecily meant to leave him the range building in her will. Instead she’s set him up in a four-month-long competition with her big-city niece to see who will win the place. A niece whose knockout looks are making it damn hard for him to concentrate on the job at hand.

Sunshine can’t believe she’ll have to open a vegan restaurant in a rifle-range waiting room, and she can’t believe she’ll have to share her apartment with Cole, either. Cole can’t believe his friends are falling over themselves to help Sunshine succeed—and get a date with her.

Now the competition is getting hot, but the sparks flying between them are even hotter. Can Cole and Sunshine find a way they both can win?

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is a nice light romance, and I did enjoy the plot and I liked the chemistry and sexual tension between Sunshine and Cole.
There was a lot of fun and games as they try to find anything they can to try to drive the other out of the building and break the conditions of the will.
Overall it is a quick, easy, fun romantic read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the writing and would read others by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is good for a quick, fun read.

Love In Between by Sandi Lynn - EBook

23 November 2015

Love In Between by Sandi Lynn

(Love Series, Book 1)

Synopsis:

My name is Lily Gilmore and today was supposed to be my wedding day. That was until I found my fiancé having sex with my sister in the church moments before I was supposed to walk down the aisle. I grew up with a famous rock star father who was nothing but a womanizer who cheated on my mother every chance he got. Cheating and lying was all I ever grew up with and I vowed never to live the life my mother did. Wanting to start a fresh new life, I moved from Seattle to Santa Monica to focus on my passion for photography. No men. No lies. No hassles. No love. Until I met Luke Matthews.

My name is Luke Matthews. A year ago, I lost the love of my life, my fiancée, in a tragic car accident. My life and all my dreams died with her that day, and I do nothing now but exist and play my guitar to try and ease the pain. My love was taken away and that was something I would never get that back. Then I met Lily Gilmore.

What happens when the lives of two people who no longer believe in love are suddenly changed by fate?

My Review:  3 out of 5

Lily leaves her home and family behind after finding her sister and fiancé together on her wedding day.  When she moves across the country for a fresh start she meets and falls for her neighbour Luke.  He is trying to move forward after being in a car accident that killed his girlfriend.
I did enjoy the romance between Lily and Luke, they do have a good chemistry but they both have issues in the past and are trying to move forward in their lives.

The book is a light romance with a bit of drama, which could have taken the plot into a more dramatic storyline, but the issues are only touched upon and nothing too heavy eventuates.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would look at the synopsis of book 2 in the series.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a light romantic drama, a easy read.

Thursday's Window by Hollyinc - Twilight Fanfiction

22 November 2015

Thursday's Window by Hollyinc

Synopsis:

Bella stays home to take care of her mother who received some brain damage after being hit with a car. She is ridden with guilt as she believes the accident was her fault. Bella devotes her life to taking care of her mother, and only has 1 outside source to the real world, her grocery delivery girl Rose. Rose moves to LA to pursue acting and is replaced by a handsome delivery boy.

My Review:   3.5 out of 5

This is a sweet romance full of angst.  Bella has confined herself to her home to look after her mother who was injured in a car accident of which Bella blames herself for it happening.
Her only contact is through a charity that brings her food once a week.  When her normal delivery girl, Rose leaves, her new helper is Edward,  They both feel the instant attraction, but Bella has isolated herself in her house for too many years and finds it hard to handle her new feelings for him.

There is a lot of angst and drama in the storyline and it takes a lot of patience from Edward to get her to open up. Just when they are starting to progress, Bella’s world implodes.

This is a good story if you like things angsty, it does have some romance entwined in the drama, but it is a slow paced innocent love story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other stories by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you like angst filled romance stories.

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is a lovely May to December Romance with Doctor Edward falling for younger Bella.

It is told from Edward's point of view and is the story of how they meet, he, of course, runs away thinking he knows what is best for both of them.  When they meet again, two years later, it is up to Edward to show Bella that he will do all he can to prove how much he loves her and that he will not run away again.

It has a good supporting cast of the regulars and some great scenes when Charlie finds out they are dating.

Yes, I have and would read other stories by this author.

Come Back Tomorrow by Shadow Masen - Twilight Fanfiction

19 November 2015

Come Back Tomorrow by Shadow Masen

Synopsis:

Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly in the path of the best things that will ever happen to us.

My Review:  4.5 out of 5

Wow, what a epic story.  It is a very sweet romance between Edward and Bella under very heavy circumstances.

Bella is a hospital grief counsellor and she is sent to sit with Edward in the Oncology ward as he receives no visitors while undergoing treatment.

It is certainly a rocky start for them, Bella is looking to help Edward come to acceptance of his fate and he does not want to get close to anyone, so that no one will suffer when he dies.

This story revolves the daily struggle for life and the acceptance of death as cancer ravishes Edward's body.   Be prepared that is a full on tear jerker and very angst ridden storyline.

It is beautifully written and, as the author assures us early on this is a HEA story, this is also the story of a beautiful friendship and romance that develops between Bella and Edward.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would definitely read other stories by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for an emotional angst ridden beautiful romance.  Worth the read.

The Executive's Decision by Bernadette Marie - EBook

18 November 2015

The Executive's Decision by Bernadette Marie

(The Keller Family Series, Book 1)

Synopsis:

Regan Keller fell in love with a wealthy and powerful man once. He was her boss. When that turbulent relationship ended, she swore she’d never again date someone she worked with. That was before she literally fell into her new boss’s lap.

Zachary Benson is the head of a successful empire and used to getting what he wants in the boardroom and outside of it – and what he wants is Regan Keller. He’s determined to convince Regan that even though he’s her boss, they can share a life together.

However, when Regan’s past threatens to destroy the architectural firm Zach has invested his entire career in, he has to make an executive decision whether to choose his business or fight for the woman he loves.

My Review:  3 out of 5

I did like the story. This is the first of 10 books in the series and the first book I have read by this author.

There was a lot of drama and Regan has some serious trouble in her past which encroached on her future.  She has been in hiding for years from her abusive ex who was also her boss.  Now she finds herself working for another hot sexy Alpha male in Zach.  Their attraction is instantaneous when they meet and he will do anything he can to show her he is the man for her.  Can Regan leave her past behind her to start a new life with Zach.

Although this is a romance, it contains a lot of angst and drama, so be prepared it is not a light romantic read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read the next in the series.  The synopsis looks interesting.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if you are looking for an angsty romance.

Snatched by Pamela Burford - EBook

17 November 2015

Snatched by Pamela Burford

Synopsis:

Is an uncomplicated divorce and a fresh start at forty too much to ask? Apparently it is for Lucy Narby, whose life goes from blah to bizarro when competing kidnappers lock horns in her kitchen. And really, does the victor have to be that hot? If this is the Stockholm syndrome, it sure didn’t take her long to catch it!

Lucy’s kidnapper calls himself Will but looks suspiciously like ’80s child TV star Ricky Baines, whose acting career was cut short when he himself was snatched and held for ransom 25 years ago in a notorious cold case that remains unsolved. Will’s gang includes an aging French bombshell, an outlandish Irish giant with a mysterious past and a thing for Will’s sister, and long-lost Cousin Hal—a charming fellow who neglects to mention that he happens to be the twisted sociopath who kidnapped Will when he was still America’s favorite little star. Hal spent the past quarter century in the slammer for an unrelated murder, and now he’s out and determined to locate the $2 million ransom Will’s family paid. Someone else dug up the cash while Hal was behind bars, and that sort of thing tends to make twisted sociopaths a tad grouchy.

Fortunately (or not), Lucy’s bigamous ex is on the case. But so are a gay private eye in a fat suit and a bad-tempered parrot with an ax to grind, so no worries. Everyone has a secret and no one is who he seems when Kidnap Fever strikes.

My Review: 4 out of 5

This was a very interesting read, there are so many characters in the book, each with their own agenda and quirky personalities.  There is plot twists and turns everywhere and at first, when you don't know what is going on, it can become quite confusing and confronting.  But as the story goes on, the plot starts to unravel all the twists and your mind has a chance to catch up and then you be come intrigued into how they are all going to come together.

It is not your typical romance story, it is more of a suspense/mystery story with a liberal dose of humour and a touch of romance.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read others by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a unique suspense romance.  I would say keep reading, it will all make sense in the end.

Been Loving You Too Long by Seraphina Donavan

Unless, Vincent and Ophelia marry, Vincent and his siblings will lose everything, including the family business.

Forced into such close proximity, denying their attraction for one another becomes impossible. But even as they grow closer, other threats to the future of DuChamps Hotels and all that Vincent holds dear threaten to destroy their burgeoning relationship. Ophelia has played it safe her whole life. Taking a risk on Vincent is a frightening prospect. Will it be worth it, or will his secrets break both their hearts?

My Review:  4 out of 5

I enjoyed this story, it is full of drama and some hot loving.

This is the first of 3 books in the DuChamps Dynasty Series, with a book for each sibling.

Vincent and Ophelia both have been in love with each other for years from afar.  This is their story, of when they finally give in to the sexual tension, the aftermath when he reverts to form and how, just days later, they have to face the prospect of being married to each other as a condition of a will.

I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline.  I liked the premises of each sibling having to fulfil a stipulation in the will to retain their family fortune and if one fails they all fail, and everything would be given to their cousin. Of course, he would like nothing better than for them to fail.

There is a lot of hot sexy scenes with some very light BDSM elements to spice it up.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it was a good read, a hot romance.

The Billionaire Bargain by Lila Monroe

Synopsis:

Sexy Australian billionaire Grant Devlin is ruining my life. He exercises shirtless in his office, is notorious for his lunchtime hook-ups, he even yawns sexily. If I didn't need this job so bad, I'd take his black Amex and tell him where to swipe it.

He doesn't even know I exist, but why would he? He jets off to Paris with supermodels, I spend Friday nights with Netflix and a chunk of Pepperidge Farm frozen cake—waiting for his call. Because every time he crashes his yacht, or blows $500k on a single roulette spin in Monte Carlo, I’m the PR girl who has to clean up his mess.

But this time, it’s going to take more than just a fat charity donation. This time, the whole company is on the line. He needs to show investors that he’s settling down, and Step #1 is pretending to date a nice, stable girl until people forget about what happened with the Playboy Bunnies backstage at the Oscars.

My plan is perfect, except for one thing:

He picks me.

My Review:  2.5 out of 5

This book is the first of 3 in the series, and you will not get resolution in this first book.

It is a very short fast read, it has some funny moments with Lacey's internal dialogue.

I did have some trouble liking Grant, he is a conceited care for no one playboy and I really didn't warm to him as the book went on, so it makes it hard for me to care if Lacey is able to show him the error of his ways and reform him.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

I would read the synopsis to see if the book interested me.  Undecided

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

No probably not, it just didn't do anything for me.

(The Bennetts, Book 1)

Synopsis:

Rule No. 1: Displays of affection in public only

Keeping their hands on each other in public turns out to be surprisingly easy. It's keeping them off in private that's the problem. Hallie is falling for Nicholas, but will Nicholas make his contract wife his real-life bride?

My Review: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed this book, it was a lovely witty romance.
The chemistry between Nick and Hallie is great, he is a full on Alpha male used to getting his way in all things and he is not prepared for the whirlwind that is Hallie when she enters his life, turning it, and him, upside down.
Hallie is not your normal leading lady, she is snarky and quick witted and tumbles into adventures taking everyone else along for the ride.
I loved the writing style, it is a very sweet romance with both Nick and Hallie having trouble keeping their feelings and bodies in check.  It is full of funny moments and some laugh out loud scenes.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes it was a lovely read and I would read others by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

And that messy past is about to spill over into her carefully constructed present…

My Review:  3.5 out of 5

This is the story of reconnecting with the love of your life, it is a nice story and the romance between Brent and Shannon is very hot and heavy.

I did find that the back story of her mother somewhat superfluous to this story.  I understand that the author is painting the background for Shannon's childhood and also this mystery to be unravelled over the other books in the series, and I see Book 2 relates to her brother, and that their mother's story is more involved in that book.  But I don't know that I care enough about the mother to know what happened.  I would have been just as happy if the mother's story was just more of a hardship that Shannon had to face and that she had moved on from adversity.  It felt that instead of just making it a hot sexy romance, the author is trying too hard to make it a mystery romance.

All that being said, I still did enjoy the story and the chemistry between Shannon and Brent is sizzling.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

I would read others by this author if I liked the synopsis..

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

If you are looking for a reconnecting with lost love story with a lot of sexy scenes then this is a good book to read.

Tarnished by Becca Jameson

(Wolf Gatherings -  Book One)

Synopsis:

Wolf shifter Mackenzie Davis has no interest in mating with another wolf. A horrific experience in her past has hardened her to this resolve. She loves her life as is, with the perfect job, the perfect friends, and the perfect boyfriend—a human one. Nevertheless, her mother implores her to attend this year’s Wolf Gathering. Reluctantly dragging her feet, she agrees to one day only.

Drake Spencer has come to the gathering from Texas with his family. He’s twenty-eight and believes his chances of finding a mate are slim to none, especially since he saw the woman he felt connected to leave with another man at the last gathering. But what if the woman who has consumed his dreams for the last two years is not actually mated?

When Mackenzie and Drake meet, sparks fly. Kenzie hopes to deny the claim on her. But can she? The call of mates is stronger than she expected. What will happen to her sense of self if she follows this man to Texas? Not to mention Drake. Can he live with the mental scars of her past?

My Review: 3 out of 5

I did enjoy the book, it is a very quick easy read.

I though Drake was lovely, he is a great caring Alpha male that imprints on his love and will do anything to make her happy, even restraining his natural desire to make her his.

I had some issues with Kenzie herself, we were told she had a horrific experience in her past, and it was alluded to something had happened to her when she was 19 and this holds her back from wanting to find a wolf mate.  When she does imprint with Drake, she has a terrible time coming to grips with the overpowering desire to mate and fights it nearly to the detriment of both herself and Drake.

When we do find out what it was that happened to her, I felt that the way the author has written Kenzie's subsequent behaviour, would be more in line if she was a young girl when she experienced this rather than an adult of 19, unless she was very immature or innocent.  So that made me not like her as much as I liked Drake.

All that being said it is still a good love story with some angst.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

I would read others by this author if I liked the synopsis..

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

I would recommend it to someone who likes wolf/shape-shifter romances as a quick read.

My Review: 4.5 out of 5

This is a lovely story and a nice take on the love story of Edward and Bella from the Twilight/New Moon books.  It is essentially the same basic plot of the books but with Bella already knowing that they will love each other and how knowing this changes the story.

I really enjoyed the writing style and I loved the interactions between young Bella and Edward.
Each chapter is a mix of the current and the past, but it is clearly marked and easy to follow.

It is a very sweet romance story with a bit of drama and some angst, and as this story is based on the books, we know it is coming, yet it is still very raw when reading it.

Overall a great read.

3 November 2015

The Billionaire's Kisses by Julie Farrell

(Tycoon Billionaires Book 1)

Synopsis:

Adam Quinlan is a billionaire whose charm, sex appeal, and power get him anything he wants — whenever he wants it. And what he wants is Amy...

Adam wants to possess Amy Carter — and her business. It’s time to negotiate in the boardroom as well as the bedroom.

But Amy wants more from a man than just mind-blowing, no-strings sex, and she certainly doesn’t want anything from the double-crossing Adam Quinlan. She needs to teach the billionaire a valuable lesson: there are some things money can’t buy.

My Review:  4 out of 5

This is the first book in a series about the Quinlan Brothers and it is a good sexy mystery story.

Adam is your typical Alpha male billionaire with a string of flings to his name, Amy is a strong willed corporate player who knows what she wants and goes after it.  Amy flies to New York to facilitate a business merger, when she finds out that she had a one night stand with her new boss, can she hold it all together and keeps things professional.  Meanwhile he knew who she was all along and now just want to pick up where they left off.

The love story between Adam and Amy is hot and heavy with a lot of sex scenes and a bit of mild kink, nothing too heavy though.

I enjoyed the mystery entwined in the business merger and the ending was a twist I wasn't expecting.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the writing and would look to read her other stories.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

What About Now? by BitterHarpy - Twilight Fanfiction

What About Now? by BitterHarpy

Synopsis:

Edward Cullen made a choice that broke Bella Swan's heart. What happens when he inadvertently walks back into her life three years later? A story about love, regret, redemption and the ties that bind.

My Review:  3.5 out of 5

This is a good sweet romance story.  I enjoyed the story and the characters.  There is some angst and a whole lot of sexual tension as Edward works to earn back Bella's love, and Bella decided whether to let Edward back in her life after she was devastated when he left her last time.

There is a good mix up of the usual supporting characters entangled in Bella and Edward's story.  There are some Grey's Anatomy references in there for the fans and it is set in a Hospital with all the main characters being Doctors, although the story is not heavy on medical procedures or terminology but more as just a background to the plot.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the writing style and look forward to reading stories by the author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a good, quick, angst filled reunited lovers romance story.  Worth reading.

But while both Ally and Carter are willing to put their lives on the line to discover the truth, neither is prepared for the danger the other poses to their heart.

My Review: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this mystery romance, it has a lot of action and suspense as Ally and Carter are chased by the bad guys, also a nice romance to keep things spiced up.

Alley herself is a strong heroine and doesn't put up with Carter's Alpha male routine but gives as good as she gets and I enjoyed the banter between their characters.

This is a quick, fast paced read and had a good introduction to the supporting cast who get their own stories told in other books in the series.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I loved the writing style and the excerpt for the next book really got my attention, so I am looking to read that next.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a fast paced, easy to read suspense romance story.  Worth reading.
