One You Can't Forget by Lexy Timms - EBook

27 September 2015

One You Can't Forget by Lexy Timms

(Hades' Spawn Motorcycle Club Series Book 1)

Emily Rose Dougherty is a good Catholic girl from mythical Walkerville, CT. She had somehow managed to get herself into a heap trouble with the law, all because an ex-boyfriend has decided to make things difficult.

Luke “Spade” Wade owns a Motorcycle repair shop and is the Road Captain for Hades' Spawn MC. He’s shocked when he reads in the paper that his old high school flame has been arrested. She’s always been the one he couldn’t forget.

Will destiny let them find each other again? Or what happens in the past, best left for the history books?

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is the first of 3 books in the Hades' Spawn Motorcycle Club Series, and this story is more of an introduction novella than a book.  It is a very quick read and ends on a cliff hanger so you do need to read the other books to get any resolution.  So read it with the knowledge that you need to read all 3.

That being said, I enjoyed the story, the characters and the romance entwined with the drama.

Emily is having a bad week , breaking up with her boyfriend, getting arrested and reuniting with her first love, Luke, who is the Road Captain for Hades' Spawn MC.

This book has some good storylines and hopefully that is continued into the next 2 books

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I was interested enough in the characters to read the next book in the series.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is still a good fast read Novella.

Come Monday by Mari Carr - EBook

24 September 2015

Come Monday by Mari Carr (Wild Irish, Book 1)

Wild Irish, Book One

Monday’s child is fair of face…

After the death of her mother, Keira Collins became a surrogate parent to her six younger brothers and sisters, her own dreams put on hold. Now, at twenty-seven, she’s finally pursuing a college degree. Between classes, working at the family pub and still tending to siblings, she’s no time for romance. So why is she spending all her rare free time fantasizing about hot Professor Wallace bending her over his desk?

Will Wallace recognizes Keira’s unfulfilled desires, her habit of hiding her beauty, her obsessive need to command every aspect of her life. But Will has needs of his own—and they run far darker than Keira’s. As he initiates her into his lifestyle, offering sweet punishments and sweeter rewards, Will’s sexual authority slowly strips away some of her precious control. The one thing Keira’s not ready to relinquish…

My Review: 4 out of 5

This was the first book I have read by this author, and this story is the first of a series, but each book is a stand alone read.
I enjoyed the storyline and the romance between Keira and Will. He is a dominant, and while the story does mention BDMS and there is some hot sex scenes, there are definitely not any true heavy scenes.  The story is as much about Keira finding her real self worth as much as it is a romance.

It is also an introduction to her brothers and sisters which sets up the stage for their own stories in the next books.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read others in the series by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a good story, a nice romance with some hot sex scenes.

The Best Man by njwriter62 - Twilight Fanfiction

23 September 2015

The Best Man by njwriter62

College roommates Bella and Alice go to their friend Rosalie's wedding, and run into a few obstacles along the way. Seeing the gorgeous best man almost makes up for all the trouble.

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is a sweet romance between Bella and Edward, who meet at Rosalie and Emmett's Wedding.  Bella owns a bookshop and lives in Seattle, Edward is a TV anchor in Chicago.  This is the story of how they meet, fall in love and overcome obstacles to create their Happily Ever After.

It is "T" rated and has no sex scenes, just some making out.  It is a well written story, with a bit of angst and a lovely romance.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would read other stories by the Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a very sweet short romance. Well worth the read.

My Review: 4 out of 5

This is the first book in a series with a stand alone story for each brother/sister.  I enjoyed the romance between Ian and Riley.  They have a great chemistry.  The story itself has some angsty parts, and I don't know that I would be as quick to forgive in the circumstance.  That being said it is a good, romance story interlaced with some hot sexy scenes.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I look forward to reading other stories by the Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, it is a good fast angsty romantic read.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is a very sweet, light Christmas Romance. I enjoyed the storyline and the interaction between Andi and Colin. It is nicely written and it covers just about everything Christmassy.  This book is a nice easy fast read.  I see there is a "Steamy" version released but I have not read that version.

Yes, I would read other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Once Upon a Dream by Kate Perry - EBook

20 September 2015

Once Upon a Dream by Kate Perry (Summerhill Book 5)

Summerhill, Book 5

Summer Welles wants the fairy tale.

The illegitimate daughter of Reginald Summerhill, the Earl of Amberlin, she listened to her mother's stories about the Summerhill girls all her life. In her mind, Summer was part of the stories too—living in the castle, wearing fancy dresses, and falling in love with Prince Charming.

Her wish came true. Mostly. She lives in the Summerhill mansion. She has stepsisters—nice ones who don't make her clean the chimney. She even has a magical wedding dress waiting for her special day. The only thing missing is the prince.

What Summer didn't count on was mistaking a masked frog for her prince. But once she kisses the mysterious man, he won't go away. And he's not charming or princely—he's more interested in ravishing her rather than riding off into the sunset.

With her fairy tale at stake, Summer's faced with her own quest: sacrifice her Happily Ever After, or turn her back on the one man who makes her feel alive?

My Review: 3 out of 5

This was the first book I have read in the Summerhill series, so I was not familiar with the authors style or the background of the other characters in the book.  I am not sure if this is a good thing or not, for this review is based solely on this story alone.  That being said it is basically 2 stories in one short book.

The main story relates to Summer and her quest to make her "Prince", who she has never even spoken to, fall in love with her. But she knows as soon as they have their first kiss he will realise she is the one, leaving his girlfriend and living happily ever after with her. Truthfully if any of my friends came to me with the same scenario I would think they were a bit damaged and needed help.  However, this is fiction, so I continued to read.

The secondary story, which I now know to be a feature in all of the previous books, is about Jacqueline and her reconnecting to her first love, who she left to marry another, 40 years earlier.  This was a nicer story that could have been expanded further.

I am not sure if I like the back and forth switching between the 2 stories with no continuity between chapters, it really just felt like the author had 2 short novellas and decided to mix them together into a short book.
I did however connect with the secondary story more as it wasn't so far fetched in reality as the first.

All of that being said, it is a nice quick read with a bit of angst and a touch of spice.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, it was still a nice romance, so I would look at other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
Yes, I would probably recommend starting with the first story rather than read this as a stand alone, as I think you would become more interested in these characters if you had been introduced to them as back stories in the previous books.

When You Dare by Lori Foster

Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all….

My Review: 4 out of 5

This was the first book I have read by this Author, and I really enjoyed the book.  The plot was interesting and it is a good mystery entwined with the romance.  I liked the way the leads were written and lots of interesting stories to be told about the other minor characters scattered through out the book.  It has a good strong Alpha Male in Dare and the heroine of the story Molly was written as a very strong, unflappable women, but I think that she was written a bit to staid and would have been more believable if she showed a few more feelings over the things done to her in captivity or at least some time of trauma.  That would be my only real criticism of the story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I enjoyed the story and the writing style, so would look for other stories by this Author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
Yes, It was a good read and I would definitely recommend it.

18 September 2015

Rock You by Candy J Starr (Fallen Star, Book 1)

Working for a cranky, old hermit in an isolated house sounds like Ruby’s idea of heaven – but her boss isn't quite what she expects.

Tex is a fugitive from the rock and roll world – a tragedy abruptly halted his career. No one knows why he quit, no one knows where he is.

Suddenly, the idea of human contact seems more appealing, if only with each other. The sanctuary they have built is enough for Ruby -- the man she grows to love is Tex the hermit, not Tex the rock star -- but the outside world encroaches.

She thinks their fledgling love can’t shine brighter than the rock dream but can Ruby bear to let Tex go?

My Review: 2.5 out of 5

This is the first book of 3 in the series, so be prepared that you will not get any answers in this book. It is an OK read, not a lot of romance at all in this book, a bit of sexual tension between Ruby and Tex.  Mostly it is a story about the friendship of two socially damaged people and how they learn to cope learning to live together.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?
Possibly, I would read the synopsis of other stories to see if they interested in me.  However, I wasn't overly invested in theses characters, so not sure if I will bother with Book 2

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
Unsure, probably not.

Resisting the Biker by Cassie Alexandra (Motorcycle Club Romance, Book 1)

A romantic thriller with some very unexpected twists Twenty-one-year-old college student, Adriana Nikolas, doesn't really know what to make of Raptor, the sexy biker who seems to be obsessed with getting into her pants. Hot or not, she knows from their first encounter that he's dangerous, both in and out of bed. What Raptor wants, Raptor gets. Arrogant, cocky, and stubborn, Raptor takes on the challenge, and in the meantime, gets much more than what he'd bargained for. Meanwhile, Slammer, President of the Gold Vipers, seeks justice for the rape of his Old Lady's daughter.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

I enjoyed the writing style and the storyline itself, it has a bit of everything, mystery, drama, murder, sexual tension and hot sex scenes, Bad Boy Bikers Alpha Males.  There is a lot going on and although the story could have ended a chapter earlier with a HEA, the author has added another chapter with drama and a cliff hanger ending that has me needing to know what happens in the next book. Which I suppose is the objective, making you buy the next book.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?
Yes, I would read other stories by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
Yes, it was a good, fast read with plenty of action.

Wild Irish Heart by Tricia O'Malley - EBook

16 September 2015

Wild Irish Heart by Tricia O'Malley (The Mystic Cove Series)

It is time… An ancient book, a power untouched, and a heart unloved lead Keelin O'Brien from her graduate studies in Boston to a small village on the coast of Southern Ireland. Determined to unearth the secrets lying hidden in the enchanted waters of the cove, Keelin has little time for a surly Irishman who infuriates her during the day and haunts her fantasies at night.

Inexplicably drawn to the woman who has stepped from his dreams and into his world, Flynn fights a stubborn battle against his increasing attraction for Keelin. Forces unknown have better plans for the two. Only the secrets of the cove can show Keelin who she really is, the beauty of her mysterious power, and a love that will break the bounds of what she knows.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

It took me a while to get into this story, the first part is about Irish Celtic powers and healers, and a few times I wondered if I would finish the book.  However once they introduced Flynn into the story and the sexual tension and romance starts it adds a new dimension to the book and I enjoyed the rest of the storyline.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?
Yes, I would read other stories by this author.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
Yes, but be prepared to wade through the first half of the book if you are not into spiritual healing.

Rule's Obsession by Lynda Chance - Ebook

14 September 2015

Rule's Obsession by Lynda Chance (The House of Rule, Book 1)

An alpha-male like no other: Damian Rule is an ultra-staid businessman who likes his life just so. He wears his hair cut short; he demands his business affairs be organized, and he insists that his women be impeccably groomed and conservative in both speech and appearance. When he meets Angie Ross for the first time, he sees a hot, beautiful, gothic mess. With her fishnet stockings and spiked leather cuffs, she's wildly inappropriate for his long term needs. But for the short term? She'll do just fine.

My Review: 2.5 out of 5

This story had a lot of mixed reviews.  I though it was OK, it did have a lot of sex scenes scattered throughout the book, but the main male lead, Damien, just didn't do it for me.
He was, as stated in the synopsis an Alpha male, but to me he was written with too heavy a hand, trying to show some Dom personalities but without any true BDSM characteristics or scenes.  To me, he came across more as insecure than an alpha.   Also some of the sex scenes seemed to drag on, I was saying to myself just hurry up already.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?
Not sure, I would have a read of the synopsis and make a decision at that time

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?
No, probably not.

My Review: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed this book, it has a fluid writing style and was a nice read.  The main characters had good chemistry and the storyline itself ticked all the boxes, some romance, some lust, some sexing, some misunderstandings and a bit of angst.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I look forward to reading other stories by this author

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Shoulda Been a Cowboy by Maisey Yates - EBook

10 September 2015

Shoulda Been a Cowboy by Maisey Yates (Cooper Ridge Novella)

There's not much about his teenage years that Jake Caldwell can be proud of. Except maybe for keeping his hands off cute, kindhearted Cassie Ventimiglia. She was the only one who saw him as more than a tattooed rebel who couldn't wait to leave the ranching life behind. Now he's back in Copper Ridge to sell his father's property—and staying right above Cassie's coffee shop. And out of nowhere, the girl he's never forgotten is offering a whole lot more than fresh-baked muffins…
Jake's dark, smoldering appeal hasn't changed one bit. But Cassie has. Following everyone else's rules didn't quite work out. Time to ask for what she's always wanted…and what Jake's more than happy to give: a wild, hot romance that could make a one-time bad boy realize he's back for good.

My Review:  3 out of 5

This is listed as a prequel novella to introduce readers to a new series, based in Cooper Ridge, Oregon and it does it's job, introducing the town and its inhabitants.  It has that Harlequin Romance feel to it, following the tried and tested path, but it is a nice, short story by itself, can be read alone as each book revolves around a different couple.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, the preview for the next book seems interesting, so it would be one I would read.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, if they are looking for a light, quick romance story.

In Flight by R.K. Lilley - Ebook

7 September 2015

In Flight by R.K. Lilley   (Up in the Air, Book 1)

When reserved flight attendant Bianca gets one look at billionaire hotel owner James Cavendish, she loses all of her hard-won composure. For a girl who can easily juggle a tray of champagne flutes at 35,000 feet in three inch heels, she finds herself shockingly weak-kneed from their first encounter. The normally unruffled Bianca can't seem to look away from his electrifying turquoise gaze. They hold a challenge, and a promise, that she finds impossible to resist, and she is a girl who is used to saying no and meaning it.

Bianca is accustomed to dealing with supermodels and movie stars in her job as a first class flight attendant, but James Cavendish puts them all to shame in the looks department. If only it were just his looks that she found so irresistible about the intimidating man, Bianca could have ignored his attentions. But what tempts her like never before is the dominant pull he seems to have over her from the moment they meet, and the promise of pleasure, and pain, that she reads in his eyes.

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This series has been around for a few years, however this is the first time I have been introduced to the books and In Flight is the first book in the series. I enjoyed the idea behind the story and the characters themselves.  It had some elements of a good romance, with some drama entwined.   It certainly does enough to want you to read the next book in the series to find out what happens to them.

I see there is a lot of mixed reviews around for the book, it is one of those stories that you can read, realising that, would this happen in real life this way, no probably not, but this is fiction not real life.  So it is a nice read if you like a bit of kink in your romance, it is not hard core in any way.  Read it for what it is, a Billionaire romance story.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would look at the next in the series to find out what happened.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, though it is not a story for everyone, so I would recommend if you like soft kink billionaire romance stories.

Anything is possible by CAWredmoon - Twilight Fanfiction

Anything if possible by CAWredmoon

After realizing her boyfriend of two years was cheating on her, Bella Swan decides to move out of the rainy Forks, Washington and into Redding, California.  She wants to attempt to forget about the man who broke her heart.  Edward Cullen a single dad, already a resident in Redding, CA will mend Bella's broken heart and change her life in ways she didn't know were possible.

My Review:  2.5 out of 5

This is a very quick story to read, you do need to look past the obvious grammar errors of which there are a lot. The story itself centres around Bella moving into the house next to Edward and slowly entering the lives of him and his children.   There was a few areas that seemed to be brushed over very quickly, not a lot of depth to the characters.  Certainly not a M rated story, it is a very light romance with a touch of drama.

Would I read the next in the series or another book by this Author?

 No, probably not.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

No.

Postcards by Tardis19

Stored in a keepsake box in her closet were a handful of postcards sent to her by the boy with whom she'd fallen in love, a boy who lived on the other side of the country.  This is a story of love.  Fate brought them together, but will the love they built from afar withstand when distance no longer separates them?

My Review: 3.5 out of 5

This is a Bella and Edward teen romance, with a bit of drama thrown in, although it does seem to lead you to think something bad is going to happen, it does fizzle out with out any real major angst.   It is certainly not a hot and heavy love story, just a light, sweet romance which in itself is a easy, quick read.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

Yes, I would have a look at other stories if I was looking for a light read.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

Yes, again if they are looking for a teen romance, light read.

My Review:  2.5 out of 5

The story itself took a while to read it to the end, even though it is not a long story . Both of the characters seemed to have stubborn streaks, which annoyed me, and the plot seemed to be a bit thin as to why they did things that they did. Overall, it just didn't hold my attention.  Would I recommend someone else to read it, no probably not.

Would I read the next in the series or another story by this Author?

No, the writing style didn't appeal to me.

Would I recommend someone else to read this story?

No probably not.
